Description
A view of the interior of the Evergreen library building, 2601 N. Arkansas, under construction. This view looks towards the Parkview meeting room and adjacent office spaces. Child Start vacated its space on the north side of this building in summer 2012. In summer 2013, roof drains failed and created significant water damage in this area of the building. The space was in a state of partial demolition since beginning in the fall of 2013. Rather than returning the space to its original preschool classroom arrangement, repairs in 2015 by Van Arsdale Construction created a new large meeting room which was dividible into two smaller spaces when needed. At the time, it was the second largest meeting room in the Wichita Public Library system. The project also included re-carpeting the main area of the library and the older meeting room -- renamed the Arkansas room -- and repainting the mural outside the front of the building.
