Description

  • Kate English was born on 12 February 1875 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. The daughter of Nathaniel A and Osie (Foy) English, one of Wichita’s founders. She attended Lewis Academy.
  • Kate married Alton Harry Smith on 22 December 1897 in Wichita. Harry was born on 19 December 1868 in Berkshire, Ohio. Kate was a member of the First Presbyterian church, a member of the Wichita Art Association, the Twentieth Century club and the Sedgwick County Pioneer Society.
  • Kate died on 15 July 1946 in Wichita. Her husband Alton died on 18 September 1940. Both are buried in the Old Mission Mausoleum in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. One daughter is known to born to this union.
