Description
- Written on the back of the photograph: J.J. Garret & brother. John Jesse Garrett was born 1 September 1856 in Tazewell County, Virginia. He married Clara Agnes Beard. Clara was born 3 January 1859 in Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois.
- John moved his family to Wichita between 1870 and 1880. He and his brother, N.H., started a business, Garret Bros., as home decorating – painting and paper hanging. The business dissolved in June 1888 and John took over the business, later adding his son to the business.
- John died on 27 December 1911 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. Clara died on 17 September 1925. Both are buried in Highland Cemetery in Wichita. Five children are known to born to this union.
