Description

  • Herman A. Hill was born 5 October 1866 in Uniontown, Kansas. He married Ida May Wilson on 2 September 1888 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. Ida was born in April 1866 in New York.
  • In 1917 and many years after, Herman had a hardware business, Hill Hardware Co. He served two years as city councilman before city commission government came to Wichita. On 2 March 1929 he was elected City Commissioner for a four-year term. He was with the Messenger Pacific Express for seventeen years and was an agent for the U.S. Express Co. for three years.
  • Herman died suddenly on 12 September 1936 in Wichita from a cerebral hemorrhage. Ida died in February 1944 in Wichita. Both are buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Wichita. One son is known to born to this union.
